David Kenyon wants to marry Josie, but his mother says she's not good enough. He allows himself to be persuaded to marry his mother's choice, and Josie goes Hollywood to become actress Jill Castle, where she marries superstar Toby Temple. Years later, she has another opportunity for happiness with David, until Jill's past comes back to haunt her.
