The Cherry Orchard is a tale of change, and how various members of a family and their acquaintances adapt (or fail to adapt) to it. Yasha is the valet, and acts more like part of the family most of the time. He doesn't have a lot of lines, but spends a good bit of time onstage, observing the others.
